Shadow’s Depths Page 4

A Dystopia comic page from Chapter 4: Shadow's Depths shows Bradson and Frazier trapped beneath the Spill, continuing their tense argument inside the collapsed space.

In the first panel, Frazier stands behind Bradson, who is crouched near the rubble and working by the harsh glow of Frazier’s handlight. Frazier asks what Bradson’s point is. Bradson replies that Frazier has been assigned to the most pointless job in the Force and has suffered the consequences, just like the people trapped inside Dystopia.

The second panel shows Frazier in close-up, angry and gesturing with one hand as he asks whether Bradson has completely abandoned the mission.

In the third panel, Bradson rises and turns sharply toward Frazier, shouting, “What mission?!” He challenges the idea that their mission is anything more than acting as glorified zookeepers, making sure the desperate people left inside Dystopia cannot make contact with the rest of humanity. Frazier is seen from behind with both hands raised.

The fourth panel is a close-up of Bradson’s face, partly framed by his helmet and night-vision gear. He says they have failed, because the Rogue Corps make contact with the real world regularly, and people walk into Dystopia all the time. He adds that they only try to make sure people cannot walk out.

The fifth panel shows Frazier in an angry close-up. He insists that the safety of the general public requires containment of the city, and says Bradson is defying a direct order not to make contact.

The final panel shows Bradson in the foreground with his visor down while Frazier gestures behind him. Frazier says containment is the only real answer when facing things whose only purpose is to destroy them.

Chapter 04: Shadow’s Depths – Page 04

Dystopia: Shadow’s Depths Page 4 continues beneath the Spill, where Bradson and Frazier are trapped beneath the rubble, cut off from rescue, and starting to expose the cracks in what they believe about the city.

This week’s page turns a survival conversation into a larger argument about containment, duty, and whether the Force’s mission still means what Frazier thinks it means. Bradson has spent enough time near Dystopia to understand the uglier practical truth: the boundary around the city may not be as clean, controlled, or righteous as people outside want to believe.

Over on the Patreon ALFA looks at the background choices on the page, especially the balance between re-establishing the collapsed space and using darkness to keep the focus on the characters. ALFA talks about how the rubble in the first panel reminds readers where Bradson and Frazier are, while the later panels use blackness, limited light, and simplified backgrounds to support the conversation without slowing down production.
