Midwife, aborted Page 7

Page 7 of the comic series Dystopia: Midwife, Aborted. Angie and 8244, two midwives dressed in light blue body suits and bright white masks engage in a swift, balletic fight inside a sterile, institutional hallway. 8244 is experiencing some type of battle rage, and Angie avoids the conflict through a series of acrobatic maneuvers. As they clash, Angie's monologue reads "Instinct," "To," "Obey," revealing programmed behavior. Eventually, the two midwives lock gazes and 8244 experiences a mental shift or awakening. Finally, 8244 urgently explains, "We have to get rid of the Nefeshim or they... they will be able to follow us anywhere," exposing a deeper threat.

Story note: This week's offering of our supernatural cyberpunk comic continues an exploration into control, resistance, and identity.

Creative note: Chuck Dixon shared their "10 Commandments of Comic Book Scripting", and I suggest that any aspiring comic creator check out the blog post. Go ahead and read. I'll wait... Jackwraith's approach to what we read on the comic page is best described as "efficient". The words and images work in tandem and there's little risk of breaking Dixon's 7th Commandment, but the reader is going to have to invest themselves... Our author is not going to spoon feed the story and the meaning behind the story. In addition to the comic there are breadcrumbs to follow and the most obvious are the blog posts that you can find directly beneath this post, or on the NEWS page of the Dystopia website.

As the description that can be seen on the various pages of the website exclaims, each Dystopia chapter, page, and blog post "is an evolving experience that rewards curiosity." I hope that your curiosity is being rewarded.
