Interlude: the hymn

A found artifact from the world of Dystopia is shown as a crumpled sheet of lined notebook paper lying on a wood surface. The lower left and bottom edges of the paper are burned away, leaving dark scorched borders. Two notebook holes are visible on the left side, and the page is wrinkled and worn.

The text on the paper is written in jagged black handwriting. It reads:

“The shadows are deep
The life source’s poor
No souls exist that can survive through that door
we wait for the word
that wills us to be
The warriors of those who can still see
Our time has come
The blackness declares
The shadows that herald our march on the stairs
The path laid before us
Leads right to that door
All sing the whispers of the Lords of the Morgue”

Interlude: the hymn

This week’s interlude continues the series of found artifacts appearing between Chapters Three and Four of Dystopia.

These artifacts are designed to expand the world of Dystopia beyond the main chapter pages and offer glimpses of what different groups, organizations, and survivors believe, record, or fear as Haven continues to evolve.

This week’s Patreon essay looks behind the artifact and walks through the process of building the image layer by layer.
